Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Christmas Tree Recycling Program?

The annual recycling program is the only fundraiser of the year for West Linn Troop 396.  Scouts will come directly to your home on a designated day, take your tree and have it recycled.  Donations go towards funding our scout trips, scholarships, and community events throughout the year.

Do you accept flocked trees?

No.  The tree recycling facility we use expressly prohibits flocked trees.

Who is the program available to?

Any residences within the West Linn city boundary, the Tualatin "Fox Hill" neighborhood and Johnson Road residents in Stafford.

What are the pickup dates this season?

We have two dates for the 2022 Holiday season:

  • Monday, December 30th

  • Saturday, January 6th

When do I put out my tree?

We ask that you put your tree out in front of your house no later than 9am on the day of your scheduled pickup.  We cannot guarantee that scouts will knock on your door, so please ensure your tree is out on time.

How much does it cost? And how do I pay?

We ask that you make a minimum $15 donation per tree.  This is the troop's only fundraiser of the year and the money helps fund important troop activities throughout the following year.  We accept checks, Paypal, and now Zelle for your convenience.  We are a non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.

Check:  Please make your donation payable to 'West Linn Troop 396' and secure in a waterproof Ziplock baggy securely to the tree in a visible location.  The best place tends to be either stapled to the base or tethered to the top of the tree.

Cash:  We are no longer accepting cash donations.  If the above payment options do not work for you, please email us.

We are working to get Square payments setup and we will update this page when that is ready to go!
